University of Illinois Extension will be offering a “Wizarding World of 4-H” event on Tuesday, June 29, in Elizabeth at the Elizabeth Community Building, Wednesday, June 30 in Freeport at the Freeport Public Library and Thursday, July 1, 2021 in Rockton at Prince of Peace Church. This magical event will take place between 9:00 am-noon. After check-in, participants will be sorted into their houses, create a wizard hat, and a color-coded house tie. After, participants will head to potions class where they will be brewing some fizzy and bubbly concoctions such as root beer and much, much more. In herbology class, participants will enjoy learning about different herbs, planting an herb of their own, and painting a one-of-a-kind pot. Finally, every wizard or witch needs their own wand. In our wand-making class participants will make a wand, parchment paper, and a quill. Classes will be on a rotational basis. It will be a busy morning of fun, creativity, and hands-on learning!
We ask that each participant wear a mask at all times and stay socially distanced. Hand sanitizing stations will be set up throughout the building.
All youth ages 6 and up, who have completed 1st grade, are invited to attend this event for only $5. Pre-registration is required. You may register by visiting our website at go.illinois.edu/jsw or by calling the Extension Office at 815-858-2273. 4-H membership is not required. The deadline to register is June 24 and space is limited.
