Kathy Book joined Illinois Extension as a 4-H Youth Development Educator in January 2025. In this role, she supports 4-H programs in Carroll, Lee, and Whiteside counties, delivering relevant programming that meets the needs of these communities. Prior to this, Kathy served as the Lee County 4-H Youth Development Coordinator for eight years.

Kathy is passionate about 4-H Youth Development programs that emphasize experiential learning. She offers programming in areas such as college and career readiness, leadership, science and technology, and general 4-H project development. Book also collaborates with 4-H clubs, volunteers, and Extension stakeholders.

Kathy holds a Bachelor of Science in Horticulture and a Master of Science in Agricultural Education from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Outside of work, she enjoys gardening and keeping up with her three active boys.

She is a member of the National Association of Extension 4-H Youth Development Professionals and the Illinois Extension Professionals for Youth Education.
