Jay Solomon addresses indoor air quality, energy management, and water quality issues impacting commercial agriculture and residences. His expertise encompasses residential radon and moisture management, statewide delivery of livestock manure and facility management programs, and management of a smart meter/ smart grid grant funded state program. Solomon brings an engineering perspective to help individuals and communities find healthy, economical solutions to challenging issues.

Stanley "Jay" Solomon provides leadership in environmental and energy programs in northwest Illinois for landowners, homeowners and residents. His areas of focus include: energy conservation, development of alternative energy sources, and enhancement and protection of natural resources.

Solomon graduated from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor's degree and Master's degree in agricultural engineering. He joined University of Illinois Extension in 1999, after spending 6 years with Missouri Extension. Solomon has worked with several programming teams including engineering, animal systems, consumer economics, and natural resources. This background provides a breath of knowledge and experience to draw upon for addressing rising issues.

Among his accomplishments, Solomon holds a professional engineering license in agricultural engineering. He has also received a University of Illinois Extension Award of Excellence, individual category; two U of I Extension Award of Excellence, team category awards, Achievement Award from the National Association of County Agricultural Agents (NACAA), and regional winner in the Fact Sheet and Publication categories sponsored by NACAA.

Solomon's professional affiliations include American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) and National Association of County Agricultural Agents.
