Foundation Annual Awards

  • Adams County Outstanding Member Award: $1,000
  • Glen Tenhouse Leadership Memorial Award: $250
  • Dare You Award - This award and book is presented in memory of former 4-H leader Ruby Crow and recognizes youth ages 15-18 who show potential leadership, scholarship and character through club leader nomination and submission of a short essay.
  • John Alison Memorial: This fund was established in 1986 to award outstanding project work in sheep, $50, and outstanding project work in dairy, $50. Awards are based on results from Adams County 4-H Fair projects and/or showmanship. John Alison was a livestock farmer and an outstanding 4-H livestock judge from Mendon who graduated from University of Illinois.
  • Betty Venvertloh Memorial: This fund was established in 2016 and is awarded annually to the Top 1st year Construction project in Clothing & Textiles at the Adams County 4-H Fair. The recipient completes an application for a sewing workshop, event or class with supplies, and at same time submits bill to be paid up to $200. Betty was a 4-H leader, avid seamstress, and quilter.

Foundation Scholarships

  • Funding Application: These awards provide assistance for clubs and individuals, community service, contests, international opportunities, project development, and teen leadership.
  • Andrew Tenhouse Memorial Fund: This fund was established in 2006. The primary purpose shall be to support Adams County 4-H clubs in providing leadership opportunities for 4-H members, for community service programs and projects, and/or to assist youth wanting to attend 4-H camp. Andrew was a member of the Burton Flyers 4-H club, attended National 4-H Congress and was a national winner of the Natural Resources Award.
