Champaign County Master Gardeners present, Rose Growing, and Care with Master Gardeners Susan Smith and Gail Broadie. They will discuss site selection, building healthy soil to grow healthy plants, planting basics, pruning basics, pest management, and selections that thrive in our area (zone 5), among other rose topics. The program will be held online on Tues., May 26 @ 7 p.m.  Spots are limited and registration is required in order to receive the login information. This presentation will be recorded for future viewing. 

Susan Smith and Gail Broadie are on the rose section team of the Idea Garden at the University of Illinois Arboretum.

Ms. Broadie, an experienced gardener who has been cultivating her own rose garden since 1992 as well as serving on the Master Gardener Advisory Committee and volunteering at the Idea Garden, will describe types of roses, ranging from shrub to climbers.  Ms. Smith, a Consulting Rosarian Candidate and member of the Stephen Decatur Rose Society, the Illi-Ana District Rose Society, and the American Rose Society, will review rose planting and care, including problems and their solutions.
