Champaign County Master Gardeners and University of Illinois Extension presents a Plant and Garden History of the Lake of the Woods Area in Mahomet via Zoom or phone call-in on Tues., Aug. 24 @ 7 p.m. Our guest presenter, Marina Montez-Ellis, is a Forestry and Natural Resources graduate of the U of I and is the Garden Program Specialist at the Museum of the Grand Prairie.  In this presentation, you will virtually tour what Chambanamoms calls "the best kept (local) secret" in Champaign County.  Marina will focus on three specific areas in Mahomet's Lake of the Woods including the gardens in and around The Museum of the Grand Prairie, Mabery Gelvin Botanical Garden, and Buffalo Trace Prairie.

During this presentation you will:

  • Be inspired to replicate plant choices and landscape designs in your own gardens

  • Learn about plant choices and design features focused in the Maberry Gelvin Botanical Garden

  • Learn about local natives growing in the Buffalo Trace Prairie

This is one you don't want to miss!  The program will be recorded and, once edited, made available on our YouTube channel, https://go.illinois.edu/ccmgYouTube
