Perennials offer seasonal color, texture, height and save money by returning each year like old friends. They can provide visual interest throughout the year and draw pollinators to your landscape including bees and hummingbirds.

However, a perennial garden is not maintenance free. Some perform better with regular watering, fertilizer and a side dressing of compost. Others thrive on neglect. Many will grow, multiply and change over time raising the question, when and how to divide perennials?

Dividing perennials is an inexpensive way for gardeners to gain more plants. Claudia will share her knowledge and give a live demonstration. Attendees are welcome to bring their perennial questions, and a few fortunate attendees will take home a new plant for their garden.

There is no charge to attend; however, attendees are asked to please register in advance to allow for proper seating and accommodations.

University of Illinois Extension provides equal opportunities in programs and employment. If you need a reasonable accommodation to participate in this program, please contact Vermilion County office 217-442-8615. Early requests are strongly encouraged to allow sufficient time for meeting your access needs.
