Challenge your brain.

Are you headstrong about keeping your head strong? Challenging the brain, especially as you grow older can be beneficial. Many of us enjoy working on puzzles and games that require us to think and stretch our minds. Researchers agree that intellectual challenge is beneficial throughout life. Join us on October 16 at 1 p.m. to learn about lifestyle factors that contribute to brain health, and strategies to enhance thinking.

Call (618) 993-3304 or visit go.illinois.edu/BrainHealthSeries to register for this free series.

Explore The Series

The It's a No Brainer three-part health series looks at the aging brain, memory and lifestyle factors that contribute to brain health. All program are held on Mondays at 11 a.m. at the Franklin County Extension office in Benton.

October 23 - Hold That Thought: Explore Strategies for Forgetfulness
Have you ever gone into a room and couldn’t remember why you went in there? Misplaced your keys or cell phone? Forgotten what you were about to say? If you’ve answered “yes,” you are not alone! Everyone forgets things now and again, and this happens throughout life. Memory changes as we age, but forgetfulness is common for people at all stages of life. This workshop will look at the memory process and what researchers say contributes to brain health, as well as strategies for helping with everyday forgetfulness.

October 30 - Fit Wits: Keep Your Brain Healthy and Engaged
Keeping your wits fit requires more than just doing crossword puzzles or word searches. There is increasing evidence that brain health is directly related to body health. This should come as no surprise since the brain and the body functions interdependently. However, most people think more about keeping their bodies fit or their hearts healthy than working at maintaining a healthy brain. Learn more about the aging brain and what you can do to keep your brain healthy and engaged.
