Sharing your space with wildlife can be enriching, but unwanted wildlife activity can also damage gardens and become a nuisance. Join the Vermilion County Master Gardeners and Educator Ryan Pankau for Wildlife Management in Your Landscape on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at 6 p.m. in the Danville Public Library, 319 N Vermilion St, Danville, IL 61832.

Learn how to coexist with these common animals – deer, squirrels, rabbits, chipmunks, raccoons, and groundhogs – by understanding their ecological roles and implementing humane management strategies. Discover how to create a backyard oasis that attracts desirable wildlife while minimizing unwanted visitors.

Ryan Pankau is the Horticulture Educator for Illinois Extension serving Champaign, Ford, Iroquois, and Vermilion counties in central Illinois. He has over 20 years’ experience as an arborist and forester after earning a bachelor’s and master’s degree in forestry from Southern Illinois University. Ryan has past work experience as a certified arborist, forest hydrologist, and USDA-NRCS Area Forester in southern Illinois. He is the author of the Garden Scoop blog which discusses a wide variety of plant-related topics specific to Illinois.
