Fruit Tree Pruning 101: The Basics
Grant McCarty, Local Foods & Small Farms Educator, U of I Extension
While it seems too cold to be talking about pruning fruit trees, this is the best time of year to do it with pruning to be wrapped up by mid-March. By removing unproductive wood on your fruit trees, you will get them in the right shape this season for great yields. Whether you have young or well-established trees, this session will provide you with guidance on tools to use, cuts to make, and strategies to implement this winter pruning season and for years to come.
