Twenty-three years ago, my family and I purchased fifty acres of overgrazed woods, some highly erodible farm ground, and an old pasture made impenetrable by the coverage of thorny shrubs. In the ensuing years, we have improved the timber stand, implemented erosion control measures, nurtured the pasture toward becoming an oak/hickory stand, built trails and bridges, and planted a small prairie. Come enjoy a stroll through the woods and observe what we are still doing to increase the diversity of plant and animal life in our woods and fields.
