At this ornithology workshop, learn how to be a better bird watcher and guide with Illinois Extension and Brian “Fox” Ellis, internationally acclaimed author, storyteller, historian, and naturalist with the Illinois Audubon Society. We will start the morning with a brief discussion about bird identification and birdwatching etiquette, then meander through Amboy Marsh Wildlife Sanctuary to practice bird watching, bird ID, and teaching skills as we enjoy the nature around us. Participants will have the opportunity to practice new skills by taking turns leading small groups. Dress for the weather with long pants, a hat, and comfortable hiking shoes. Bring bug repellent, binoculars (if you have them), a water bottle and other hiking gear you may need. The workshop is free, but pre-registration is required.
