Carroll, Lee, and Whiteside 4-H programs will be hosting their public speaking contest on Monday, February 16, 2026 at the Whiteside County Extension Office. The public is invited to attend to watch the youth present their speeches. Speech categories include Formal Speech, Illustrated Speech, Original Works, and Oral Interpretation. More information and registration is on ZSuite.

Enrollment in the Public Presentations project is required for 4-H members to participate. No live animals are allowed in speeches. Participation in the local contest is required for a chance to advance to the state competition. Counties may advance a total of 3 speech entries from any category to the state contest. A 4-H member may advance in one individual category and one team category. Participating youth turning 14 years of age on or before September 1, 2025, must enroll as advanced.
