Join the Master Gardener Team!
The Illinois Extension Master Gardener program is open to any adult with an interest in plants and a desire to share that with others. All Master Gardeners begin with a training course that teaches you all about gardening in Illinois.
Master Gardener training will be held September 8 - November 24, 9am-Noon at DeWitt County Extension in Clinton. This adaptive model enables participants to the online coursework into their busy schedules while also attending weekly interactive sessions. This is a great flexible option for people who enjoy self-paced learning with a hands-on component.
The training course includes 12 modules taught by a variety of Extension Educators and State Specialist with the University of Illinois covering topics such as vegetable gardening, soils and fertilizers, annuals and perennials, plant diseases, integrated pest management, and more. Enjoy adaptive learning styles, including videos, reading materials, and interactive real-world applications.
Upon completion, participants can apply to become a Master Gardener volunteer and participate in educational programming and projects within their communities. Nothing beats the camaraderie of other like-minded gardeners focused on our mission of “Helping Others Learn to Grow” through community outreach.
There is a $175 fee associated with this training.
