Carroll/Whiteside 4-H Youth advance to State Hippology Contest

STERLING,Ill. - The 4-H Northwest Regional Hippology contest that had been scheduled for early April was canceled and moved to an online format that took place on May 9.  University of Illinois Extension is pleased to announce the local winners from Carroll/Whiteside 4-H. These Top participants will advance to the 4-H State Hippology Contest which has been postponed to a date yet to be determined.

Senior Division: Olivia Charles (first); Tea Thomas (fourth); and Lauren Burrs (sixth)

Intermediate Division: Talisa Thomas (first): Abigail Schmidt (second); Allison Burrs (third)

Junior Division: Linnea Thorngren (third)

Also participating from Whiteside County was Miah Shoemaker (senior division) and Brielle Ettore (junior division). We thank everyone for their hard work and dedication in moving this contest to an online format.

The primary objective of the Hippology Contest is to provide in a friendly but competitive setting, an opportunity for youth enrolled in 4-H to demonstrate the breadth of their knowledge and understanding of equine science, and in particular the practical application of this knowledge and skill.
