Discover what you need to know before choosing Evergreens for your landscape

MONTICELLO, Ill. — Home landscapes often include an evergreen or two for color throughout the seasons. Evergreens remain green and functional throughout more than one growing season. But, planting and caring for evergreens takes an investment of time and money, so it is important to make the right decisions when choosing plants for your yard.

Pining for Evergreens, a free webinar hosted by the University of Illinois Extension Piatt County Master Gardeners will be at 2 p.m. on Dec 8. Sarah Vogel, Extension horticulture educator, will discuss species selection, year-round care, site requirements, and pruning practices for Evergreens. Monticello High School horticulture students will close the webinar with a demonstration on making evergreen wreaths.

This webinar is free, but participants should pre-register online or call 217-762-2191 by Dec 7. Participants will be sent a link to the webinar once registration is complete.

The Piatt County Master Gardeners are volunteers trained by University of Illinois Extension.
