DECATUR, Ill. – How much do you know about Jamaica, the largest English-speaking island in the Caribbean? Let University of Illinois Extension 4-H staff take you on a virtual journey through the country to learn about foods, customs, and culture for 4-H International Day 2021.
Join DeWitt, Macon and Piatt County 4-H staff from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, January 30 and begin your family’s trip to Jamaica. Break-out rooms featuring Jamaican cuisine, crafts and a themed escape room are just some of the planned activities for this free ZOOM event.
“International Day 2021 will be a fun and interactive virtual experience open to all families and community members,” says 4-H Educator Trinity Johnson. “We will be creating International Day kits which will contain innovative and exciting activities to engage youth and their families in immersive and cultural experiences.”
There is no registration fee required for this event, but participants are asked to pre-register by Jan. 15 to receive the International Day kits. Pick-up dates for the kits will be scheduled for Jan. 23 through January 25 at the Macon County Extension office located at 3351 N. President Howard Brown Blvd. A link to the ZOOM event will be emailed once registration is completed. For more information, contact trinityj@illinois.edu.
