Home and Community Education helps youth get creative with finger knitting workshop

MONTICELLO, Ill. – 4-H empowers youth by providing the tools and opportunities to learn skills that will last a lifetime. Knitting is the latest offering by 4-H that is a collaborative effort with Piatt County Home and Community Education. Youth will not only learn that knitting is fun but that the possibilities of creative projects with knitting are limitless.

“We’re excited to have Piatt County HCE members share their passion for knitting with kids,” says 4-H Youth Development Educator Jamie Boas. “They can use what they learn to make all sorts of creative items!”

Learn to Finger Knit is from 2 to 4 p.m. on Oct. 10 at Piatt County Extension, 210 S. Market St., Monticello, Ill. No experience is necessary, and all supplies are provided.

This free event is open to youth ages 8 to 18. Register by Oct. 5 at go.illinois.edu/Knitting. For more information, please contact Jamie Boas at kleissjm@illinois.edu or call 217-762-2191.
