Illinois Extension Offers Eating for your Heart Series During Heart Month in DeWitt County

CLINTON – Healthy eating starts with healthy food choices. Join University of Illinois Extension this February during American Heart Month for Eating for your Heart, a class that will give your whole family the tools to eat healthy.

Nutrition & Wellness Educator and Registered Dietitian Caitlin Mellendorf will host a series of Eating for Your Heart classes throughout DeWitt County sharing research-based grocery shopping and kitchen tips for a healthier heart. These classes will include a short lesson and recipes to sample.

  • 6-7:30 p.m. January 30 at the Vespasian Warner Public Library, 310 N. Quincy St., Clinton. Free, dinner included. Ages 7 and older welcome with an adult. Sign up by January 24.
  • 11a.m.-12:30 p.m. February 3 at the DeWitt County Extension Office, 8425 Katie Road, Clinton. $5 per person. Sign up by January 29.
  • 10-11:30 a.m. February 6 at the DeWitt County Friendship Center, 410 E. Main St., Clinton. Free. Ages 7 and older welcome with an adult. Sign up by February 3.
  • 6-7:30 p.m. February 11 at the Farmer City Public Library, 109 E. Green St., Farmer City. Free, dinner included. Ages 7 and older welcome with an adult. Sign up by February 7.
  • 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. February 14 at Nixon Manor, 100 S. Railroad St., Clinton. Free, lunch included. Ages 7 and older welcome with an adult. Sign up by February 11.
  • 5:30-7 p.m. February 17 at the Waynesville Township Library, 302 2nd St., Waynesville. Free, sample recipes and make a freezer meal to take home. Ages 7 and older welcome with an adult. Sign up by February 10.


Funding for the free classes is provided by Warner Hospital & Health Services.
