Macon County 4-H Hosts Girls In STEM Workshop

DECATUR, Ill.— Spend the morning doing hands-on STEM activities and celebrating Women’s History Month at the 4-H Girls In STEM workshop. Women and girls play an important role in the advancement of STEM, unfortunately, there is a huge gap for females in STEM careers. In an effort to educate girls and help them explore STEM careers, Macon County 4-H is hosting a Girls In STEM workshop 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 28 at the Macon County Extension Office 3351 N. President Howard Brown Blvd.

This workshop will focus on coding and engineering. There will be two sessions demonstrating coding, and a session providing the opportunity to participate in an engineering competition. A panel of successful local women in STEM fields will also share their stories with workshop participants.

Girls In STEM is open to the public and is free for current 4-H members. There is a $5 program fee for non-members. Register online at by March 25.

The 4-H program is provided through University of Illinois Extension and is open to youth ages 8 to 18. Youth learn skills for living by participating in individual or group learning experiences related to more than 200 project areas. More information find us on Facebook.
