ARGENTA – Jessica Anderson, A & O Producers Macon County 4-H Club member, was honored at the Illinois 4-H foundation Awards Ceremony in October. Jessica received the State 4-H Award in the Community Service Division and received a $1,000 college scholarship.
“4-H means the world to me. I learned leadership skills and how to be confident in my abilities with public speaking,” states Jessica. “It has given me so many friendships and relationships that have helped me become the person I am today. Because of 4-H, I have gained so much experience in working with youth.” Jessica plans to pursue a teaching degree and aspires to be an Anatomy teacher.
Jessica has organized many service projects, including clothing drives, food and hygiene product collections, and community building decorations. As a Macon County Ambassador, she organized a Cloverbud Boot Camp. She taught at the 4-H STEAM Extravaganza for five years and promoted 4-H at the annual Decatur Celebration. In the summer, she serves as 4-H Memorial Camp counselor and 4-H Teen Teacher.
Illinois 4-H foundation celebrated the achievements of over one hundred 4-H members at its annual awards ceremony in October. Twenty-four young adults were recognized as winners in one of five divisions of the State 4-H Award. Each award winner chose either a $1,000 scholarship or a trip to National 4-H Congress in Atlanta.
The 4-H program is provided through University of Illinois Extension and is open to youth ages 8 to 18. Find Macon County 4-H on Facebook.
