Talking Crop: A Seasonal Row Crop Production Podcast

“Talking Crop” is a seasonal row crop production podcast hosted by University of Illinois Extension Commercial Agriculture Educator, Kathryn Seebruck. The purpose of this podcast is to provide farmers and agribusiness representatives with topical information and actionable management considerations through conversations with crop production guest experts to discuss current trends and research updates. New episodes will be released every other week during the growing season between May and September. The first episode was released on May 15 and the final episode of the season will be released on September 18. The episodes can be found at go.illinois.edu/TalkingCrop.

The May 15 episode is titled “Talking Weed Adaptability and More” with Dr. Aaron Hager, University of Illinois Extension Specialist, Weed Science. Dr. Hager discusses the importance of preventing weed seed production, how weeds have adapted to our farming practices, the significance of metabolic herbicide resistance, the status of the EPA herbicide strategy and more.

The next episode to be released on May 29 will feature Dr. Connor Sible, University of Illinois Crop Physiology Post Doctoral Research Associate. Dr. Sible will discuss early season conditions, the crop outlook for June, continuous corn impacts on the soil microbiome, soil health testing, and more.
