FREEPORT, IL- YMCA Freeport Camp Discovery participants were provided STEM Activity Kits, through University of Illinois Extension, 4-H Tech Wizards Program, generously funded by Community Foundation of Northern Illinois. 4-H Tech Wizards continue to extend Science, Technology, Engineering and Math outreach, to local community youth, during stay-at-home orders and phases, by providing continuous educational, hands-on resources that contribute to learning loss prevention, during these unprecedented times. YMCA participants engaged in baking soda/vinegar science experiments, producing not only a chemical reaction, but a lot of fun! University of Illinois County Extension Director, Margaret Larson states, “We are grateful to the Community Foundation of Northern Illinois for grant funding to support our STEM outreach. Being able to support community partners like the YMCA is a very important part of Extension’s youth development work, and having the ability to provide resources to their campers is a win-win.”
