Winnebago County 4-H Hall of Fame

A Winnebago County 4-H volunteer has been selected to receive the Illinois 4-H Foundation Hall of Fame award for their service to the Extension youth development program.  Kathy Palmer, Durand, has a long history with University of Illinois Extension’s 4-H program. Kathy joined the 4-H community when her three children (Sarah, Jacob & Kate) starting participating in the 4-H program in Winnebago County. A short time later, she stepped up to become the leader of their 4-H Club - New England Banner. Kathy has been the leader of that club for the last 18 years and has proven to be a great asset to the 4-H program in the county. She also serves on the board for the Winnebago County 4-H & Extension Foundation, which helps support 4-H and Extension locally.

“We are fortunate to work with Kathy, who goes above and beyond for her club members and families,” states Margaret Larson, County Extension Director.  “Her club is very active and involved in their community, as is she. We honor her and her service to 4-H!”

Service is a hallmark of the Illinois 4-H program. The Illinois 4-H Foundation and local Extension offices annually honor longtime volunteers for their dedication to 4-H, the University of Illinois Extension youth development program.

In 2020, 86 individuals received the Foundation Hall of Fame Award, presented during a virtual ceremony Aug. 18.
