Youth to learn about safety and make project at woodworking workshop

MONTICELLO, Ill. – There is nothing quite like the sense of accomplishment you get from creating something from start to finish. At 4-H Woodworking Workshop with Benchworx, youth get to roll up their sleeves, put on their safety glasses, and create their very own woodworking project.

“Within 10 minutes, kids are using tools to create their project,” says 4-H Youth Development Educator Jamie Boas. “Kids will have fun learning the art of woodworking from Jeff. He's a great instructor!”

4-H Woodworking Workshop with Benchworx is from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on April 23 in the parking lot at Piatt County Extension, 210 S. Market St., Monticello, Ill. This event is open to youth ages 8 to 14 and there is a $35 fee. Register by April 18 at go.illinois.edu/4HWW. For more information, please contact Jamie Boas at kleissjm@illinois.edu or call 217-762-2191.

Benchworx is a mobile woodworking workshop where youth gain working knowledge of tools and make their own project. All tools and materials are provided by Benchworx. To learn more about Benchworx, please visit benchworx.net.
