Winnebago County recently held its annual 4-H Fun Day at the Prince of Peace Church in Rockton. This event is a chance for youth aged 8-18 to explore some of the many different project areas available to them through 4-H. Additionally, the event featured teambuilding activities and games, as well as a chance for some of Winnebago County’s Youth Leadership Team to practice their leadership skills by facilitating some activities for the younger participants.
This year, the kids participated in card making, flower arranging, cookie decorating, photography, and making Viking bracelets. Sessions were led by 4-H group leaders, volunteers, and professionals in their respective fields. Winnebago County 4-H coordinator Rob Wiener reported, “The day was a lot of fun! This is held at that time of year when many people are getting cabin fever after the long winter, and are looking for something fun to do. The venue was perfect for this event, and the weather was cooperative and allowed the photography groups to practice what they learned around the grounds outside.”
Overall, the day was a great success, and was made possible by the generous support of community members. To learn more about 4-H opportunities, visit our website at go.illinois.edu/jsw, or contact the Winnebago County office at 815-986-4357.
