Susan provides outreach from Family and Consumer Sciences. She has over 20 years of experience in Extension, serving as a Family Life Program Coordinator, Community Worker, Extension Educator, and Interim County Director. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Food and Nutrition, specializing in Dietetics, and a Master of Science Degree in Health Education and Administration, both from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. Susan serves Bureau, LaSalle, Marshall, and Putnam Counties. She applies her education, experience, and expertise to help people improve their health by offering evidence-based programs that provide knowledge, develop awareness, and build skills for positive changes. Her strongest skill is bringing people together. She is a certified Real Colors Workshop Facilitator.

In the Nutrition and Wellness program, Susan promotes food safety, food preservation, chronic disease prevention and management, and nutrition and wellness education. She teaches in community settings offering trusted resources and research directly from University of Illinois. She provides hands-on cooking classes to promote better health and cooking at home. Susan authors Live Well. Eat Well blogs, news releases, and newsletters. She presents in person and through virtual platforms. Susan implements nutrition policy, food systems, and environments in the Illinois Nutrition Education Programs. She works to promote food security for all.

Her takeaway from many years of teaching; no matter how young or old, you can make lifestyle changes. Susan advocates for living your healthiest life. She encourages daily activity and has designed walking activity clubs for youth and adult audiences. She promotes the Move Your Way guidelines. She loves walking videos on YouTube to get a quick mile in 15 minutes.
