Join U of I Extension Educator, Ryan Pankau at Douglas Discovery Garden on September, 21 at 6 PM for a program on tree health with Ryan demonstrating how to excavate a tree root collar. Ryan will help you identify the root collar on various trees at Douglas Discovery Garden so you know what to look for in the field.

He will demonstrate how to correct some common issues with a root collar excavation, which is a practice anyone can perform at home. Ryan will also explain why it is crucial to remove the burlap from new trees before planting them in your landscape.
