Join the Vermilion County Master Gardeners and U of I Extension Educator, Ryan Pankau, at Douglas Discovery Garden in Danville on October 25 at 4:30 pm CDT for a program on tree health. This workshop will focus on common health issues associate with a tree’s root collar, which is an important portion of the tree where trunk tissue transitions to root tissue. Many trees, young and old, show signs of stress when the root collar area is impacted in one way or another. Ryan will demonstrate how to identify common root collar disorders and correct these impacts by performing a simple procedure called a root collar excavation.
