Macon County 4-H is once again hosting a Virtual Food Challenge between Friday, December 10  and Friday, December 17, 2021. All Macon County (and beyond) kids and their families are invited to use their cooking or baking skills to create a one-of-a-kind dish using a list of secret ingredients. Dishes will be judged on use of the secret ingredients, presentation, and creativity. Each submission must include a photo of the dish, a recipe, and a description of the dish. The deadline to submit entries is Friday, December 17 by 9 PM. To receive the list of secret ingredients, judging requirements, and how to enter your submission for judging, please register on the Extension website.

A kick-off Zoom event will be held on Wednesday, December 8 at 5 PM to discuss judging, submissions, and ideas to use the secret ingredients. At the meeting, we will also discuss My Plate, healthy choices, and how participants can use these tips in their submission. Attendance at the Kick-off is not required to participate in the Food Challenge. (This meeting has been canceled. Detailed instructions for the Food Challenge will be emailed to all registrants.)

Register by December 8!

Pre-packaged kits of the secret ingredients are available for sale on a first-come, first-serve basis for $10. Kits will be available for pick up at the Macon County Extension office on Wednesday, December 8 and Thursday, December 9 until 4:30 PM.

* The deadline to register for a pre-packaged kit is Monday, December 6.
