Summer is just around the corner and that means camping trips and backyard campfires. Learn how satisfying it can be to cook a meal over a warm campfire with the experts from Illinois Extension.

A free class will be held at the Sassafras Shelter at Lincoln Trail State Park on Wednesday, May 25 at 5:30 p.m. Registration is required online or by calling the Extension Office at 217-826-5422. The class is open to individuals and families of all ages and skill levels.

Educators from Illinois Extension will demonstrate basic food safety and how to prepare and cook meals over a campfire.

“One of the easiest meals to prepare over a campfire is breakfast,” said Mary Liz Wright, Extension nutrition and wellness educator. “We will definitely teach you a couple of morning meal recipes.”

Also great for 4-H'ers enrolled in Hunting/Outdoor projects.
