Kick off a new 4-H year and get to know 4-H

SEPT. 30, 2023 | 2-5 p.m. | DuPage County Fairgrounds

Each fall, we kick off a new 4-H year with fun events. Join us to learn about 4-H programs for ages 5-18 in DuPage, Kane, and Kendall counties.

  • Do hands-on activities
  • Meet 4-H club leaders & staff
  • Ask questions
  • See projects & curriculum

Among Kickoff event features within the “4-H Family Fun Fair” is opportunity for everyone to participate in 4-H service-learning project, “Pack-a-Snack,” presented by Trinity Trailblazers 4-H Club. Participants can each pack up a donation bag with “snacks kids love,” which can provide a much needed “taste of normalcy” for young children experiencing homelessness and food insecurity in DuPage County.

In addition to the “assembly line” bag packing opportunity for youth to help other kids, beginning at 4 p.m., DuPage PADS Homeless Services Coordinator Erica Whalen will offer a short presentation on the positive impact of 4-H food donation service-learning projects, and can answer questions about resources available in the county.

4-H Youth Development programs provide ways for young people to belong to a group, give back to their community, learn things they're interested in, and develop independence. 4-H members can explore scores of projects in:

  • ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE
  • GLOBAL CIVIC ENGAGEMENT
  • CAREER & LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT
  • CREATIVE ARTS
  • STEM
  • ANIMAL SCIENCE
  • HEALTHY LIVING & NUTRITION

Location: DuPage County Fairgrounds, Building #5, 2015 Manchester Rd, Wheaton 60187, enter from Manchester Road (near the intersection with Beverly Street) at Gate S3
