Butterfly Walk-By (grades K-2)

Learn about the Monarch Butterfly, the challenges that it faces to survive, and the unique life-cycle of butterflies. During this activity, youth will have the opportunity to color a monarch butterfly cut out, and work on fine motor skills by attaching the butterfly to a popsicle stick and watching their butterfly fly!

Monarchs on the Move (grades 3-5)

Learn about the Monarch Butterfly, the challenges that it faces to survive, and the unique life-cycle of butterflies.  Through the 4-H Ag Innovators Experience, youth will have the opportunity to explore hands-on activities and develop critical thinking and problem solving skills to gain a better understanding of the declining monarch butterfly population. (30 minutes)

ENERGY

WIRED FOR WIND (grades 3-6)

As the world’s demand for clean energy sources increases, so has its interest in wind power. Wired for Wind helps youth better understand the physics of wind energy, while also learning the basics of renewable and nonrenewable energy.

Youth will work in groups, think like engineers, and build a wind turbine to produce electricity. They will have the opportunity to then test their designs and measure the energy output by using a multi-meter. (45-60 minutes)

GARDENING

Garden in a Glove (grades K-2)

Let’s build a garden in a glove, see the life cycle of plants, and discover what seeds need to germinate! Students will plant seeds in each finger of a glove and watch them sprout! (30 minutes)
