Create a Native Garden Design series returns following the remarkable success of last year’s series. University of Illinois Extension and Lincoln Memorial Garden will be offering a four-part native landscape design series. University of Illinois Extension staff and Master Gardener and Master Naturalist volunteers will be offering this educational experience focused on developing pollinator-friendly native plant gardens.
Sessions will include an introduction to native landscape design and examples of designed gardens, which is a comprehensive guide from initial planning to implementation. It is requested that participants attend two sessions in advance of the hands-on workshop on March 7. The series reflects a commitment to sharing practical knowledge and fostering appreciation and necessity for native landscapes.
Sessions include:
- Saturday, September 13, 1-3 p.m. - “Create a Native Garden from Scratch” - Volunteers are offering a tour of Ostermeier Demonstration Garden. The garden is located at the Prairie Center at Lincoln Memorial Garden, 2301 East Lake Shore Drive, Springfield.
- Saturday, October 25, 1-3 p.m. - “Introduction to Native Landscape Design” - at University of Illinois Extension, 700 S. Airport Drive, Springfield
