4-H members from Crawford County excel at Illinois State Fair

Robinson, Ill. - 4-H members from Crawford County exhibited their general and livestock projects at this year's Illinois State Fair, alongside 4-H'ers from across the state. Twenty-three members were chosen to advance to the State Fair after exhibiting outstanding project work at the local 4-H show earlier this summer.

Nine local exhibitors received special awards at the State Fair for their excellent project work.

Champion Medal - awarded to the exhibitor with the highest score in each class on each exhibit day: Jacob Meese - Woodworking 4

Reserve Champion Medal - awarded to the exhibitor with the second highest score in each class on each exhibit day: Garrett Smith - Rock Hounds 1

Inspire Award - given at the judge's discretion to exhibitors who presented inspirational, innovative, or unique exhibits: Alexys McWhirter - Civic Engagement 1

Those placing in the 4-H Jr. Livestock Division include: Beef, Breeding Females, Angus Heifers: Ashtin Guyer 1st and Reserve Champion, Cody York – 2nd, Brady York – 5th; Low% Simmental Heifers: Nalaney Guyer - 1st and 1st; Maine Anjou Jr Heifers: Nalaney Guyer – 2nd and Reserve Champion; Supreme Champion Heifer: Ashtin Guyer – 1st; Swine, Barrows Chester White: Ashtin Guyer - 2nd; Crossbred Barrow: Nalaney Guyer - 3rd and Ashtin Guyer - 1st; Duroc: Ashtin Guyer - 1st; Landrace Barrow: Nalaney Guyer - 1st and Champion; Breeding Swine, Chester White: Krosby Goebel - 3rd; Crossbred Gilts Barrow: Krosby Goebel - 3rd, Ashtin Guyer - 1st, and Nalaney Guyer - 1st; Yorkshire Gilt: Krosby Goebel - 3rd, Nalaney Guyer - 2nd, Liam Knollenberg - 1st; Sheep, Market Lambs On-Foot Wethers, Hampshire Wether: Nalaney Guyer - 1st; Rabbits, New Zealand Junior Doe: Joshua Smith - 3rd; Sheep Land of Lincoln, On-Foot Wethers, Hampshire Wether: Nalaney Guyer - 1st and Champion; Swine Land of Lincoln, Chester White Barrow: Ashtin Guyer - 2nd; Landrace Barrow: Nalaney Guyer - 1st and Champion; Breeding Swine, Chester White Gilt: Krosby Goebel - 2nd; Yorkshire Gilt: Krosby Goebel - 2nd; Meat Goats, Market Doe: Morgan Knoblett – 4th; Market Wether Heavy Weight: Morgan Knoblett – 3rd.

Sisters Ashtin and Nalaney Guyer also proudly represented Crawford County 4-H during the Governor's Sale of Champions at the State Fair. Nalaney showed her Land of Lincoln Grand Champion Market Lamb, and Ashtin showed her Grand Champion Steer purchased by Illinois' first lady MK Pritzker for $105,000 during the auction.
