Clark County 4-H’ers excel at the Illinois State Fair

Marshall, Ill. - 4-H members from Clark County exhibited their general and livestock projects at this year's Illinois State Fair, alongside 4-H'ers from across the state. Sixty-three members were chosen to advance to the State Fair after exhibiting outstanding project work at the local 4-H show earlier this summer.

Twenty-three local exhibitors received special awards at the State Fair for their excellent project work.

Champion Medal - awarded to the exhibitor with the highest score in each class on each exhibit day: Braelyn Crouch - Junkdrawer Robotics 2; Jase Fry - Junkdrawer Robotics 2; Mac Huffington - Tractor B; Annabelle Longmire - Beekeeping 1; Randall Robinson - Floriculture C; Luke Smitley - Electricity 1; Hailey Warner - Visual Arts Chalk/Carbon/Pigment-Div A; and Amilynn Zellers - Scrapbooking-Advanced.

Reserve Champion Medal - awarded to the exhibitor with the second highest score in each class on each exhibit day: Henry Arthur - Robotics 1 Intermediate; Matty Gard - Herb Display; Lane Perry - Natural Resources 3; Ben Sheehy - Family Heritage; Savannah Short - Scrapbooking-Beginning; and Aydan Wood - Intermediate Visual Programming.

Inspire Award - given at the judge's discretion to exhibitors who presented inspirational, innovative, or unique exhibits: Josef Butler - Advance Visual Programming; Gabriel Cervantes - Weather and Climate 1; Pauline Cummins - Veterinary Science; Whitney Ritter - Floriculture D; Reese Strohm - Shopping in Style: Beginning; and Larry Welsh - Woodworking 1.

Those placing in the 4-H Jr. Livestock Division included: Swine, Crossbred Barrows: Ryland Baird - 3rd; Duroc: Ryland Baird – 5th; Hampshire Barrows: Emma Rae Spitter - 2nd; Tamworth Barrows: Emma Rae Spitter – 4th; Breeding Swine, Berkshire Gilt: Emma Rae Spitter - 1st; Crossbred Gilts Barrow: Karli Titus – 6th and 2nd; Duroc: Ryland Baird – 8th and 2nd; Hampshire: Emma Rae Spitter - 2nd; Landrace Gilt: Emma Rae Spitter - 1st; Spotted Swine Gilt: Emma Rae Spitter – 2nd  and Karli Titus - 3rd; Jr. Swine Land of Lincoln, Duroc Barrow: Ryland Baird – 4th; Hampshire Barrow: Emma Rae Spitter - 2nd; Landrace Barrow: Emma Rae Spitter - 3rd; Breeding Swine, Hampshire Gilt: Emma Rae Spitter - 1st; Landrace Gilt: Emma Rae Spitter - 1st; and Spotted Swine Gilt: Emma Rae Spitter - 2nd.
