Crawford County 4-H'ers prepping for the summer show

Members of the many area 4-H clubs are putting the final touches on projects they plan to show at the 2022 Crawford County 4-H Show held July 21-28. The 4-H show is the culmination of a year’s worth of learning and working for the nearly 200 4-H’ers in the county who have been attending club meetings and working independently on their projects.

The 4-H show allows youth to exhibit their skills and share their knowledge with the public, furthering the Illinois 4-H vision of empowering and preparing youth for success. By visiting the 4-H show, you help foster a supportive environment where young people can grow into successful and contributing members of society.

Events kick off Wednesday, July 20, with the small pets show at the Extension Office in Robinson. Other highlights, which are all held at the Crawford County Fairgrounds in Oblong, include general projects judging on Thursday; horse show on Friday; dog show on Sunday; swine and rabbit shows, and the tractor driving contest on Monday; dairy, sheep, and goat shows on Tuesday; and beef show and master showmanship on Wednesday. The livestock auction is on Thursday at 1:00 p.m.

Due to avian influenza, there will be no live poultry at this year's show. 4-H'ers enrolled in poultry will display educational posters for their project.
