Extension to host Plant ID Walk and Talk Webinar

– Join Extension Educators Austin Little and Erin Garrett as they help you identify the native plants, herbaceous flowers, or flowering shrubs of southern Illinois during the plant ID walk and talk webinar on Friday, May 8 at 1 p.m. CST.

The start of spring has provided many beautiful days to get out and take a walk around the neighborhood. Perhaps you discovered a native plant on your property or purchased a flowering shrub to incorporate into your home landscape. Our educators can help you identify the plants of southern Illinois as they provide more information about the species and share tips on how to care for each one.

To help prepare for the program, Extension needs your help! Please send us a photo of the plant(s) in your area that you want help identifying or caring for. We need to know:

  • Your name
  • The location (city/county) where the plant was discovered
  • The specific question you have for our educators

During the program, the educators will share your photos and answer questions. To participate, please submit your photo to mro@illinois.edu no later than May 6.  This program is free and open to the public, but individuals must register to attend. Please visit go.illinois.edu/springid2020 to register.
