Illinois Extension bring financial literacy, life skills to local schools

Welcome to the Real World Training

JOLIET, Ill - In today's rapidly changing world, equipping young people with essential life skills is more critical than ever. Recognizing the pressing need for financial education, University of Illinois Extension presents Welcome to the Real World, a transformative program designed to empower educators to guide young people in exploring careers, making informed decisions, and managing money effectively.

Welcome to the Real World is a dynamic initiative focused on career exploration, financial education, and real-world decision-making. Studies reveal a significant gap in financial literacy among young Americans, prompting the need for targeted educational interventions. This program addresses this gap by offering hands-on experiences through career and money management fact sheets.

Illinois Extension is hosting two free train-the-trainer workshops taking place in January. This workshop aims to equip educators with the knowledge and skills needed to seamlessly integrate the Welcome to the Real World curriculum into their classrooms or clubs.  Educators may attend whichever training works for their schedule and CPDU's for educators will be provided.
