New coordinator hired for Clark County 4-H program

Marshall, Ill. – Jennifer Bishop will join University of Illinois Extension as the new 4-H Program Coordinator for Clark County.

As coordinator, Bishop will implement the many 4-H youth opportunities in the county and oversee the educational programming and outreach efforts of the new Clark County 4-H building in downtown Marshall. She will begin her position on October 11.

Illinois Extension County Director Stacy Woodyard said Bishop will provide leadership and serve as the primary contact for volunteers, 4-H members, and their families in support of local 4-H clubs and their activities.

“Jennifer’s knowledge of the Clark County community is broad, having served as the Executive Director of the Marshall Area Chamber of Commerce for 11 years,” said Woodyard. “She brings outstanding organizational skills, communication skills, and connections to the community that will serve her well in this role.”

The Texas native received her bachelor’s degree in Advertising and Public Relations from West Texas A&M University. Before joining the Marshall Chamber of Commerce, Bishop worked for Intel training logistics for 2,800 employees in 3 states.

Bishop’s two children have been involved in 4-H since they were Cloverbuds. They are now in their fourth and second years as members of the Clarksville Co-Eds 4-H Club. The Bishop family has been a lifelong supporter of the 4-H program, and her familiarity with 4-H and its many activities will make her a great fit as program coordinator.

“We know she will have a positive impact on everyone she comes in contact with,” says Susan Sloop, Extension 4-H educator. “We are particularly excited for her to inaugurate the new building donated to Clark County 4-H by Gerald Forsythe.”

Bishop lives in Marshall with her husband and two children. In her free time, she enjoys snow skiing, decorating, planning events, creating memories with her family at the lake, and visiting her family farm near Columbia, Illinois.

Illinois Extension leads public outreach for University of Illinois by translating research into action plans that allow Illinois families, businesses, and community leaders to solve problems, make informed decisions, and adapt to changes and opportunities.
