SPARK into 4-H program gives youth a direction

MARSHALL, ILL. – Do you know what sparks your child?  Chances are you have an idea. Participation in the SPARK into 4-H online series can help determine your child’s interests and passions.

“This program will allow youth to explore the many areas of 4-H and spur them into action,” says Susan Sloop, 4-H educator, University of Illinois Extension.

Sloop, who is the facilitator of this program, says SPARK into 4-H can help kids feel connected and engaged, something we are all trying to achieve during COVID-19 times.

Beginning January 13, 2021, and continuing once a month through June, SPARK into 4-H is free to youth ages 8-13. Registration is required by visiting online at go.illinois.edu/sparkinto4H at least one week prior to each session. Youth will be emailed a ZOOM link, and a supply kit will be mailed to their home in preparation for each lesson. The sessions will be held from 4 to 4:30 p.m.

Topics included in this SPARK series are animal science, paper circuits, fiber arts, health, plant science, and cooking.

If you will need a reasonable accommodation in order to participate, please email ssloop@illinois.edu. Early requests are strongly encouraged to allow sufficient time to meet your access needs.
