In this four-part beginner program, youth will learn the parts of a sewing machine, practice sewing and turning corners, and make a square pillow cover and a pillowcase!
Participants will need to bring their own sewing machine and some supplies, and 4-H will provide the facility and guidance. Join us to build new skills and complete a sewing project for fair or just for fun.
Ages: 8-18 (as of 9/1/22)
Meets: 1 to 3 p.m. on June 5, 8, 12 AND 13
Location: Kendall County Extension Office, 7775B IL Route 47, Yorkville
Cost to participate: $20 (plus some supplies/materials)
- Youth will need to bring their own sewing machine, fabric scissors, straight pins, and thread. 4-H will provide cutter and mat for cutting out fabric, fabric for practice projects, and an iron for pressing seams.
- Youth also will need to have fabric for their own pillowcase by Thursday, June 8. We will sew the pillowcase in class, and finish on Monday, June 12. The last day will be finish final details, wrap up, and do 4-H conference judging practice.
Space is limited! No need to be a 4-H member to participate.
