Join us for 4-H Super Saturday! 

All 4-H members ages 5-18 are invited to participate. Cost is $15 per participant. Participants are asked to register by Friday, March 8. Class sizes will be limited so early registration is encouraged.  

4-H Super Saturday will be held Saturday, March 16 at the Adams County Extension Office, 330 S. 36th Street, Quincy. Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. The workshop will run from 9 a.m. - Noon. 

4-H members will have the opportunity to explore up to three different project areas and participate in hands-on activities. Sessions for the project workshop include: Cloverbud Fun; Up, Up, & Away; Bloom & Grow; It's Your First Fair; Storm Chasers; Icing Impressions; Caring for Kiddos; Seed to Harvest; Woods & Waters; Culinary Chemists. 

Class Descriptions:

  • Cloverbud Fun - Ages 5 - 7 | 4-H members will engage in hands-on activities that encourage participation, learning and teamwork. Games, crafts and snack will all be included in the Cloverbud fun!
     
  • Up, Up, & Away - Ages 8+ | Participants will learn about the newest trends with drones in Ag and other industries. Members will get a hands on look at different types of drones and the multiple ways they are now helping others.
  • Bloom & Grow - Ages 8+ | Participants will learn the basics of flower arranging and tricks of the trade from a local florist, and have the opportunity to design their own flower arrangement to take home!
     
  • It's Your First Fair - Ages 8+ |  4-H members will learn what to expect at their first 4-H fair, how to prepare their projects for display, and have a chance to practice their conference judging skills with 4-H staff and volunteers.
     
  • Storm Chasers - Ages 8+ | Participants will get swept away with an inside look of weather with a member of the Adams County emergency management team!
     
  • Icing Impressions - Ages 8+ | 4-H members will learn basic cake and cookie decorating techniques and have a chance to practice their decorating skills. Participants will take home their own decorated cookies and a cake decorating kit!
     
  • Caring for Kiddos - Ages 8+ | 4-H members will learn how to select age-appropriate activities and toys for kids, as well as ways to keep children safe at home. Participants will take home an activity they can use when caring for children.
     
  • Seed to Harvest - Ages 8+ | 4-H members will take a deeper look at corn, soybeans, and small grains, and explore different ideas for their Crops project at the fair. Participants will also walk through the 4-H crop record and learn about exhibit requirements.
     
  • Woods & Waters - Ages 8+ | Through interactive experiments, participants will gain knowledge and skills for 4-H natural resources projects. Taught by Master Naturalists, members will learn the story of a tree as they study growth rings on tree cookies, learn how the Mississippi River watershed functions, and perform an experiment to learn how human activities can affect water quality.
     
  • Culinary Chemists - Ages 8+ | Participants will learn about physical and chemical reactions of enzymatic browning of fresh fruits and vegetables. They will perform an experiment to learn what causes fruits to turn brown after being sliced and measures to prevent it. (Taste testing included!)
