Carroll County 4-H is pleased to announce a collaborative effort with the Carroll County Soil and Water Conservation District and Savanna Park District to initiate an oak tree planting project. This project aims to highlight the significance of preserving and promoting oak trees across Illinois and was made possible through funding raised by the AISWCD Forestry Committee.
The planting event is scheduled for Thursday, April 25, at 5:00 p.m. in the back section of Old Mill Park, just outside Savanna. Community members are invited to join in planting 25 four-foot-tall potted oak trees. These trees, comprising 10 White Oak, 10 Red Oak, and 5 Bur Oak, will be strategically dispersed throughout the designated planting area.
Participants are encouraged to bring their shovels and gloves to assist with digging holes and handling the trees. Refreshments will be provided by the 4-H Extension office, offering a chance for volunteers to celebrate the successful completion of the project.
