
This program is open to youth ages 9-12 and limited to 15 participants. Transportation is included!
Get ready for an adventure in nature! In the Junior Master Naturalist program, youth will explore the hidden natural gems of Hancock County while learning from local experts. Topics include forestry, Illinois streams and rivers, insects, rocks and minerals, prairies, wildlife, and essential outdoor skills.
Hands-on activities like fishing, geode hunting, nature art, and insect collecting will make learning exciting and fun. The program wraps up with a meaningful service project at Carthage Lake and a celebration pool party at the Carthage Pool! This program is developed in partnership with the Carthage Park District.
