Raspberries are one of summer’s sweetest delights—whether you find them at the farmers market or pick them right from your backyard. Join Vermilion County Master Gardener Larry Betout on Tuesday, July 15 at 6 p.m. at the Douglas Discovery Garden in Danville to learn all about growing these flavorful fruits.

Larry grows a variety of berries and fruit on his own property and recently started a thriving bramble patch right at the Discovery Garden. During this hands-on, family-friendly program, you’ll learn the basics of planting, fertilizing, pruning, and propagating raspberries—and get your questions answered by an experienced gardener.

While you’re there, take time to explore the rest of the garden, including a small orchard of grapevines and fruit trees, a new raspberry patch, twenty raised beds, and traditional in-ground vegetable plots.

All ages are welcome, so bring the whole family! Be sure to pack a lawn chair or blanket, sunscreen, and bug spray, and get ready to enjoy a relaxing summer evening in the garden.
