Are you looking for something new or unusual to grow?
Did you know you could grow your own bath sponge? The luffa gourd is an easy-to-grow vining plant that produces mature fruit with an interesting purpose — it’s a bath sponge! Come join Nancy Kuhajda, Illinois Extension horticulture educator, for a lively learning session on how to grow your own luffa sponges.
Registration is $10/person, and each participant will receive a luffa seedling, luffa seeds, and educational materials on growing and using luffas and other plants for bath use.
This program will be offered in Grundy, Kankakee and Will Counties on dates listed below from 6:00-7:00pm:
- Monday, May 11, 2026, in Kankakee County
- Tuesday, May 12, 2026, in Grundy County
- Thursday, May 14, 2026 in Will County
