4-H series teaches teens to be leaders

MARSHALL, ILL. – Known for instilling leadership skills in youth, Illinois 4-H knows the importance of meeting teens right where they are and encouraging them to be leaders now.  The online leadership series, 30 on Thursday, will encourage teens ages 13-18, once a month for six months to learn to lead themselves and others.

“Leadership can be taught, and we are teaching it,” says Susan Sloop, 4-H educator, University of Illinois Extension.

This program focuses on skills that are fundamental to a teenager’s success, says Sloop.

The 30 on Thursday series, which is free, will teach teens to be role models, how to prioritize their schedules, the importance of service projects, stress management, and to understand emotions.

Interested teens can register for an individual session or the entire series by visiting online at go.illinois.edu/30onThursday. The first session will be on January 14, 2021, from 4 to 4:30 p.m.

If you will need a reasonable accommodation in order to participate, please email ssloop@illinois.edu. Early requests are strongly encouraged to allow sufficient time to meet your access needs.
