Mastering the Slow Cooker: A Delicious Way to Cook

Brush up on your slow cooker skills at Mastering the Slow Cooker, a program held at the Stephenson County Senior Resource Center, 206 E Stephenson St, Freeport, IL, on Friday, October 3, from 1 to 3 p.m. University of Illinois Extension Nutrition and Wellness Educator, Diane Reinhold, MPH, MS, RDN, will discuss how to build healthy meals using the slow cooker. 

During this program, we will cover slow cooker basics, such as selecting the correct size and shape to make the most of your cooking time, and the best time to add various ingredients to maximize the taste and texture of foods. We will also discuss food safety, have a taste test, and leave you with recipes to try at home.
