As an Extension Community Worker for the SNAP-Ed program, Melgoza provides research-based direct education using age appropriate curriculum for youth (pre-K-12). She also works with their families in the community, emergency food sites, and community youth programs. The goal is helping them make nutritious food choices and improve their health.

Melgoza earned a bachelor’s degree from Northern Illinois University, she has started her graduate courses there as well. She is a Certified Food Safety Manager, received National Nutrition Program Certification, and has earned continued professional development from the University of Illinois Extension. She has been a resident of Aurora since 1985, and enjoys living in the community in which she teaches.
